Baseball Recap: Lodi Wins Going Away Against Bergen Charter

Lodi won the last time they faced Bergen Charter and things went their way on Friday too. The Rams were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Bergen Charter. Considering the Rams have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Emmanuel Rodriquez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Rodriquez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Lodi is 4-0-1 when Rodriquez posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Lodi let Angel Alfaro and Ryan Reynoso run wild. Alfaro went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while Reynoso went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Alfaro is becoming a predictor of Lodi's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-8-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Maximillian Veloz, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Lodi was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April.

The victory made it two in a row for Lodi and bumps their season record up to 6-8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Bergen Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Looking ahead, Lodi will square off against Fair Lawn at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bergen Charter, they will challenge American Christian School at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
