Nic Moore exploded for a school-record 50 points Friday night as
Warsaw (Warsaw, Ind.) defeated South (Fort Wayne, Ind.), 90-72.
The 5-foot-9, 160-pound senior guard drilled 16 of 24 shots from the field – 6 of 10 from three-point range – and all 12 of his free throw attempts to erase the previous Warsaw record of 49 points set by Mike Niles in 1965.
Moore, who has signed with Illinois State University, far surpassed his previous career high, which was 32 points.
Warsaw coach Doug Ogle used the effort to plug his star for future Indiana Mr. Basketball honors.
He told the Warsaw Times-Union, "I've seen all the players in the state in Nic's class that are supposedly better than him. I would take Nic over all of them. With this performance, he reestablished himself as the best player in the state."
Purdue recruit Raphael Davis, a 6-6 junior, led South with 24 points.
