Sequoyah hasn't had much luck against Oologah recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will square off against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Sequoyah came out on top against Cascia Hall on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Eagles never let the Commandos get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Eagles have beaten the Commandos the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Commandos has come to flipping the script.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oologah). Everything went their way against Jay on Tuesday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-7), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Landon Roach made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kaden Fisher was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Jett Griswold was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Oologah lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Oologah's record now sits at 5-1. As for Sequoyah, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Sequoyah might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Oologah in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
