Braylen Wegner was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wayne, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against Fort Calhoun on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-2 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Adrian Contreras made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Contreras was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Wayne let Gavin Anderson and Drew Reinhardt run wild. Anderson went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Reinhardt got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Reinhardt has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Moormeier, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Wayne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Calhoun only posted a batting average of .133.
Thurston-Cuming County now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Wayne, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Thurston-Cuming County might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Wayne in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can Thurston-Cuming County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
