The Sacred Heart Crusaders struggled with assists on Thursday (the East Marion Eagles had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Sacred Heart was beaten by the Eagles 73-44. Sacred Heart has not had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Sacred Heart lost, one person who can't be blamed is Raider Williams. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Williams hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Booth, who scored three points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Marion to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brian Foxworth, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and two steals. It was the first time this season that Foxworth posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Donny Anderson, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Sacred Heart's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-11. As for East Marion, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart will take on the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Mississippi (Resurrection Catholic is ranked 250th, while the Crusaders are ranked 256th). As for East Marion, they will be playing at home against the Panthers at 11:53 a.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
