Softball Recap: Leander Wins Going Away Against Cedar Park

Leander got themselves on the board against Cedar Park on Tuesday, but Cedar Park never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Timberwolves. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kylee Arnold made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rachel Grundei, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Lee, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Leander kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.

Leander has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Park, they are on a 28-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leander will face off against Lehman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions are facing the Lobos at the right time seeing as the Lobos are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cedar Park, they will challenge Rouse at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Timberwolves surely won't give up without a fight.
