If the Edmund Burke Academy Spartans were riding high off their 71-31 takedown of the Glascock County Panthers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Edmund Burke Academy was the victim of a tough 66-42 loss at the hands of Lincoln County on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Edmund Burke Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 569th, while Lincoln County is ranked 263rd).
Edmund Burke Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Grant Mobley and Harrison McClellan. Mobley scored 15 points, while McClellan dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. McClellan also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Braydon Tindell was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
Edmund Burke Academy bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lincoln County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edmund Burke Academy will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Brentwood at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th. As for Lincoln County, they will face off against McCormick at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McCormick knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Lincoln County likes a good challenge.
