The Foard Tigers pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Maiden at home by a decisive 71-55 margin. While losing is never fun, Foard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Maiden is ranked 128th).
Foard's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Holden Caldwell, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists. Another player making a difference was Graham Orndoff, who scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Maiden was led to victory by Zion White and Lincoln Frasure. White scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists, while Frasure scored 18 points along with 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerald Danner, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds.
Foard's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Maiden, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Foard will head out on the road to face off against Cherryville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Cherryville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Maiden, they will be playing at home against Patton at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Patton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
