Baseball Recap: Morgantown Starts Season with Win Against Frankfort

Morgantown took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Frankfort Falcons 7-6.

Vincent Aloi was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other pitching news, Judd Messerly looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Weston Mazey, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Boggs, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Coming up, Morgantown will take on Parkersburg South at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup will give Parkersburg South their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Frankfort, they will host Washington at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
