Baseball Recap: Winchester Community Makes It 16 in a Row at Home

Winchester Community had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Monday. They put the hurt on the Tri Titans with a sharp 14-4 victory. The Golden Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Bryce Tippett made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Landen Porfidio and Aidan Weatherhead did most of the damage at the plate: Porfidio went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Weatherhead went 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Porfidio has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Dravin Whitehead, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Winchester Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri only posted an OBP of .370.

Winchester Community pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Tri, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winchester Community will face off against Monroe Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tri, they will square off against Southwestern at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Titans are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
