Trenton is 2-8 against Wildwood since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Trenton Tigers will be staying on the road to face off against the Wildwood Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Trenton walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 win over the Red Devils on Wednesday. Given Trenton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Williston is ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Trenton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Koi Perry led the charge by scoring 11 points along with six assists. Kayley Sloan was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Wildwood put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They breezed by Chiefland on the road to the tune of 72-18. Winning may never get old, but Wildwood sure is getting used to it with their tenth in a row.
Trenton is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. As for Wildwood, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.
Trenton might still be hurting after the 61-36 defeat they got from Wildwood in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Trenton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
