The Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks will venture away from home to face off against the Lake Brantley Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cornerstone Charter Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, Cornerstone Charter Academy came up short against East Ridge and fell 8-3. The Ducks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cornerstone Charter Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlyn Tracy, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Brantley). Everything went their way against Melbourne on Friday as they made off with a 20-10 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Auriana Turner, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kayla Morris, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4.
Lake Brantley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Lake Brantley's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cornerstone Charter Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Lake Brantley struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
