The Valencia Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell 60-50 to Grants. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Valencia of the 69-66 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the loss, Valencia had strong showings from Jorge Zuniga, who scored 17 points along with four steals, and Jared Porter, who scored 16 points. Zuniga continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Carin Bustillos was another key contributor, scoring two points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Valencia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Grants, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-8.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing St. Pius X the next time they take the court. Grants will head out to face St. Pius X at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Valencia will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
