Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Fletcher Senators, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. The game between Fletcher and Tampa Bay Tech wasn't particularly close, with Fletcher falling 51-34. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Despite the loss, Fletcher still got an impressive performance from Marcelis Tate, who rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns. Troy Hillman was in the mix as well, providing Fletcher with two touchdowns.
It was another big night for Rod Gainey jr, who rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Gainey jr was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Andreas Zayas, who rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Another reason for the win was Tampa Bay Tech's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Tre?variez Jacobs was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up five sacks himself.
Fletcher's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Tampa Bay Tech, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Fletcher does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Tampa Bay Tech will head out on the road to face off against Armwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Armwood is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
