Washougal is 2-8 against Columbia River since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Washougal Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Columbia River Rapids at 7:00 p.m. Washougal will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Columbia River is ranked 71st).
After a string of three wins, Washougal's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 38-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ridgefield. Washougal has struggled against Ridgefield recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mather Minnis, who scored ten points. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Bea, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Columbia River scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 93-62 win over Hockinson on the road. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Washougal now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Columbia River, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Washougal came up short against Columbia River in their previous matchup back in January, falling 69-63. Can Washougal avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
