PARADISE, Calif. -
Tom Hays threw two touchdowns and ran for two more as
Paradise (Calif.) beat Shasta (Redding, Calif.) 56-3 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a Hays touchdown run in the first quarter, the Bobcats led 35-3 at the half.
Paradise expanded its lead to 53 points entering the fourth quarter. PHS scored three times in the third, including once on a
Tyler Burrows touchdown run.
Jonathon Dixon and Hays ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Wolves.
The Bobcats came in allowing an average of 25.1 points per game this season. The defense really stepped up, holding Shasta well below its season average of 33.6 points scored per game.
The victory will ease some of the sting of PHS's close 42-41 loss to SHS last season.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Bobcats, which lost to Chico last week, 36-35. The loss comes after Shasta defeated Pleasant Valley 35-30 last week. The loss snapped the Redding school's 3-game winning streak.
In a Eastern game next week Paradise (6-2) takes on Red Bluff, and Shasta (5-3) will go up against Enterprise also in a Eastern game.
