The Elkhorn South Storm scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Omaha Northwest 83-53 on the road. That 83-53 margin sets a new team best for Elkhorn South this season.
Elkhorn South's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cooper Mroczek led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mroczek scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Aidan Skradis, who scored 20 points.
When it comes to explaining why Omaha Northwest lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chiok John. Despite the final result, he scored eight points along with five rebounds. Jackson Crawford was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Elkhorn South's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Omaha Northwest, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Elkhorn South is on the road again on Friday and play against Papillion-LaVista South at 1:45 p.m. on December 29th. Papillion-LaVista South has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 454 points over their last seven games. Omaha Northwest will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Millard North on January 6, 2024.
