Navajo Prep has gone 8-2 against Rehoboth Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will challenge the Lynx at 3:30 p.m. One thing working in Navajo Prep's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Navajo Prep duked it out with Northwest on Friday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 29-2 margin over the Falcons. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Miley Barber made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Shamaya Allen was a standout: she scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. Amia Salazar was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Navajo Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Rehoboth Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Grants by a score of 7-5.
Like Navajo Prep, Rehoboth Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Sage West. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. West was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Megan Livingston was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Shayla Mark, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Navajo Prep's record is now 9-4. As for Rehoboth Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Navajo Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .664. However, it's not like Rehoboth Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .506. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Navajo Prep couldn't quite finish off Rehoboth Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 22-20. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
