Softball Game Preview: North Caddo Titans vs. Byrd Yellow Jackets

The North Caddo Titans will head out to challenge the Byrd Yellow Jackets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Caddo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, North Caddo turned things around against Plain Dealing on Monday. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 21-7 win.

Nataleigh Ball made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Ball was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, KK Rainey and Isabel Dial did most of the damage at the plate: Rainey scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Dial went 2-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Those three runs gave Dial a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaileigh Blackburn, who scored four runs while going 3-for-5.

North Caddo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Byrd was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They fell just short of Captain Shreve by a score of 3-2. The Yellow Jackets haven't had much luck with the Gators recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Byrd's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for North Caddo, their record is now 5-11.

North Caddo might still be hurting after the 15-5 loss they got from Byrd when the teams last played back in February of 2021. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
