The Riverside Generals will head out to take on the University Christian Christians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside has given up an average of 18.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Riverside is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 25-10 to Englewood.
A Miller was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Camiyah Townsend, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, University Christian posted their closest victory since April 15, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Fleming Island 4-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Christians as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Dixie Tessier made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Tessier wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Piper Tessier, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Sinai Tunsill, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
University Christian's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Riverside, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Riverside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .640. However, it's not like University Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .472. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Riverside might still be hurting after the 23-0 loss they got from University Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Generals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
