Basketball Recap: Humphreys County Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Humphreys County hadn't done well against Holmes County Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cowboys walked away with a 53-46 victory over the Jaguars. The Cowboys' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Humphreys County had a senior duo take command as Brittany Stallion almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine boards and Jamyrah Harris dropped a double-double with 14 points and 22 rebounds. Stallion is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Alevian Holman was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Humphreys County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Humphreys County's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Holmes County Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Humphreys County will head out to take on Greenville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holmes County Central, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Olive Branch at 3:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
