The Rio Linda Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 71-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of River Valley. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (59), Rio Linda still had to take the loss.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rodney Shead , who scored 20 points. Shead scored a full 33.3% of Rio Linda's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Naim Kelley-Bryant was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Rio Linda were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Valley only racked up 21.
River Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gurtaran Sanghu, who scored 14 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Munneth Gill, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Rio Linda's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for River Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Rio Linda will be playing at home against Roseville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Roseville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 255 points over their last three matchups. River Valley will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Chico at 6:30 p.m. on December 7th.
