On Saturday, Concordia Prep narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Annapolis Area Christian 24-22. Having pegged this as anyone's game, the MaxPreps state rankings were right on the nose.
It took a quarter to shake off the cobwebs, but after zero first-quarter points, the Concordia Prep offense picked up 14 points in the second quarter. Annapolis Area Christian wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 7 to make it 14-7 heading into the break. Concordia Prep almost let the match get away from them in the second half, but they had just enough oomph to take it.
Concordia Prep's victory brought them up to 7-2. This is the second loss in a row for Annapolis Area Christian and nudges their record down to 4-3.
Concordia Prep will look to defend their home turf next week against Kent County at 1:00 PM. Concordia Prep are cruising in on a three-game winning streak while Kent County are stumbling in off of four consecutive losses. As for Annapolis Area Christian, they will face off against Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
