The Ridgecroft Rams just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Ridgecroft will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
On Wednesday, Ridgecroft didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Northeast Academy, but they still walked away with a 47-42 victory. Given Ridgecroft's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Northeast Academy is ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridgecroft to victory, but perhaps none more so than Molly Brown, who scored three points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Slaughter, who scored six points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Pungo Christian Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lawrence Academy.
Ridgecroft pushed their record up to 15-0 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Pungo Christian Academy, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8.
Ridgecroft came up short against Pungo Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 52-39. Thankfully for Ridgecroft, Reagan Stoop (who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
