The Normandy Invaders will venture away from home to take on the Rocky River Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Normandy needed a bit of extra time to put away Bay. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Rockets 9-7.

Ava Ramirez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over eight innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aubrey Kuhn was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Maddie Kirk was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Normandy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bay only posted a batting average of .242.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rocky River, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They never let Valley Forge get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Maddie Sollars, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Heigle, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Rocky River's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Normandy, their record is now 4-5.
Normandy might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Rocky River in their previous matchup on April 13th. Can the Invaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
