Bear Lake has won five straight games at home, while Preston has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Bears will host the Indians at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Saturday, Bear Lake made easy work of West Side and carried off an 11-1 victory. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly ten runs.
Lindsay Fisher was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Fisher was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brielle Romrell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and five RBI. What's more, she posted three runs, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Abby Humpherys, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Bear Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in nine consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Preston got the win against Marsh Valley on Friday by a conclusive 14-4.
Like Bear Lake, Preston also got a great game from a two-way player: Tylee Archibald. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). Archibald has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Preston let Brielle Biggs and Averie Madsen run wild. Biggs went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles, while Madsen went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Biggs is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Tess Jones was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Preston's win bumped their record up to 19-1. As for Bear Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 18-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Bear Lake hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Preston struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
