The San Diego Cavers will square off against the Vista Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Tuesday, San Diego needed a bit of extra time to put away Montgomery. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Aztecs 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cavers have posted since April 4, 2025.
Diana Martinez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed eight innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Madison McNamara was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Alyssa Miranda-Wallace was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs.
San Diego kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vista). They blew past El Cajon Valley 21-10 on Tuesday. The Panthers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 28, 2025 (when they won 15-4).
Like San Diego, Vista also got a great game from a two-way player: Bella Mosley. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mosley was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Vista let Lexi Corcuera and Leila Corado run wild. Corcuera went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Corado went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierna Cruz, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Vista's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for San Diego, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. San Diego has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
San Diego might still be hurting after the 11-3 loss they got from Vista in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Will the Cavers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
