The Mechanicsville Mustangs will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Hermitage Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. One thing working in Mechanicsville's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Mechanicsville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 26 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 66-38 victory over Varina on the road.
Mechanicsville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kedelin Santos out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Santos has scored at least 25% of Mechanicsville's points. Ashley Owens was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Meanwhile, Hermitage blew past Maggie Walker, posting a 62-29 win at home.
Among those leading the charge was Breyona Robinson, who scored 27 points. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Spurlock, who scored 11 points.
Mechanicsville's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Hermitage, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Mechanicsville hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 68.2 points per game. However, it's not like Hermitage struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 61 per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run up the score up higher Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
