The Sunnyside Wildcats and the Lemoore Tigers squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Sunnyside Wildcats had to settle for second. Sunnyside took a 38-22 bruising from Lemoore. Sunnyside's loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Dameion Hernandez was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Hernandez's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. Elijah Daley also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lemoore's defense and their 11.5 sacks. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Sunnyside's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Lemoore, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Sunnyside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lemoore will play host again and welcome Centennial, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on November 17th.
