St. Mary's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emmy Johnson, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Mary Marshall Rankin, who scored nine points.
Rashyia "Shy" Williams was the offensive standout of the match as she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. Sasha Bilsborrow was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
St. Mary's has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Durham Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-12 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will take on St. Thomas More Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (St. Thomas More Academy is ranked 367th, while St. Mary's is ranked 347th). As for Durham Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Raleigh Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
