It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lewis Cass had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 45-25 victory. Given Lewis Cass' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Winamac is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lewis Cass relied on the efforts of Heta Kosunen, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Aftin Griffin, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Kosunen has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsey Mennen, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though Fremont has not done well against Central Noble recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Fremont skirted past Central Noble 41-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Fremont has posted since December 21, 2023.
Lewis Cass is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. As for Fremont, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.
