The All Saints' Academy Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 80-54 walloping at the hands of Excel Christian Academy. All Saints' Academy found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 18 fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the loss, All Saints' Academy saw an underclassman step up: Claudarius Bell scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelen Randall, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Excel Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from William Medina, who scored 20 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Russell, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
All Saints' Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Excel Christian Academy, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. All Saints' Academy will take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Excel Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Lions at 4:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hillsborough Baptist is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
