Softball Recap: Bishop Mcnamara Drops Highest Score of Season Against the Academy of the Holy Cross

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop McNamara). They never let The Academy of the Holy Cross Tartans get on the board and left with a 24-0 win on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Madison Stewart and Isabella Webb made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Stewart tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Webb tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Stewart posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Stewart went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Webb got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Alyssa Scatliffe was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaslyne Ivey, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Bishop McNamara kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Bishop McNamara pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
