The Grapevine Faith Christian Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Grace Community Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Grapevine Faith Christian came tearing into Saturday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep for the full four quarters, racking up a 81-34 victory on the road. Given Grapevine Faith Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep is ranked 1614th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grapevine Faith Christian can attribute much of their success to Max Siebert, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Brennen Byrd, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Siebert has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Borman, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Grace Community at home against King's Academy on Tuesday as the squad secured a 74-30 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Grace Community.
Grapevine Faith Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-9 record this season. As for Grace Community, they pushed their record up to 19-13 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Grapevine Faith Christian against Grace Community in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 81-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grapevine Faith Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
