The Mendon Hornets stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 55-16 win over Battle Creek Academy. Mendon's win was all the more impressive since the Tigers were averaging only 29.33 points allowed on the season.
Battle Creek Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Olivia Keller and Sofia Keller. Keller scored six points along with nine rebounds and two blocks, while Keller scored seven points along with five rebounds and three blocks. That was a full 43.8% of Battle Creek Academy's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The win (which was Mendon's fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-2. As for Battle Creek Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mendon will challenge the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Athens will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while the Hornets are ranked 141st). As for Battle Creek Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Griffons at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Malia Taylor and Keller.
