NSU University proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Somerset Academy Panthers. Winning may never get old, but the Sharks sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.
Mark Manuel made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since March 1st. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
In other pitching news, Matthew Greenberg tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Joey Georgiou, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.
NSU University pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Somerset Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
