Given Blue Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Greer is ranked 97th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blue Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zikira henderson, who scored 24 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which henderson has scored at least 25% of Blue Ridge's points. Another player making a difference was Alla Hutchins, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Greer had strong showings from Amiyah Clark-Lamelle, who scored 18 points along with 8 steals and 5 rebounds, and Samora Moody, who scored 18 points. The game was Moody's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Greer struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Blue Ridge racked up 13.
Blue Ridge's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Greer, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge will face off against Landrum at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greer, they will head out on the road to face off against James F. Byrnes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. James F. Byrnes' defense has only allowed 28 points per game this season, so Greer's offense will have their work cut out for Greer.
