Plant City is 8-2 against Riverview since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Aldin West looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alex Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Drew Cothren, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Plant City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Riverview was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They lost 12-2 to Plant. The Sharks haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Riverview saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Shultz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That double marked the first that Shultz hit this season.
Plant City's record now sits at 13-10. As for Riverview, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
Riverview's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Plant City has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Riverview, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Plant City keep running through batters, or will the Sharks buck the trend?
Plant City took their win against Riverview in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Sharks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
