The Jo Byrns Red Devils were the 58-31 winner over the Todd County Central Rebels when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Jo Byrns fell 56-48 to Todd County Central on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Jo Byrns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 370th in Tennessee, while Todd County Central is ranked 127th in Kentucky).
Todd County Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alexis Taylor led the charge by scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Taylor's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja?Mya Kay, who scored 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Jo Byrns are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7. As for Todd County Central, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jo Byrns is on the road again on Friday and play against West Creek at 6:00 a.m. on December 15th. West Creek is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Todd County Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Hopkins County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
