The Naugatuck Greyhounds put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their undefeated season alive. Everything went their way against Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic as Naugatuck made off with a 41-21 victory. Fans of Naugatuck have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a stomp.
Jett Hall continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 194 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 114 yards and three touchdowns. Naugatuck also got a significant boost from Jaylin Martinez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 96 yards.
Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Nolan Risedorf, who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 119 yards and a touchdown on only nine passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Avenia, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Naugatuck's win was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 5-0. As for Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
After both having extra time off, Naugatuck and Woodland Regional will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th.
