The Braddock Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Forreston Cardinals at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Braddock is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Braddock's tournament run continued when they took on Sylvan Hills on Tuesday. Braddock put the hurt on Sylvan Hills with a sharp 12-2 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Miguel Diaz tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Braddock got a massive performance out of Marcelo Torres, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Sanchez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Braddock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Forreston suffered their biggest loss since April 27, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 14-2 to Fort Smith P. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Cardinals' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.
Carson Akins was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Akins was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Braddock's record now sits at 14-3-1. As for Forreston, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Braddock has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .486. However, it's not like Forreston struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
