Baseball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Clarion Area

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Punxsutawney, Clarion Area was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 10-5 win over Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bobcats considering their two-run performance the game before.

The team relied heavily on Derek Smail, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. He has become a key player for Clarion Area: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Billy Kahle also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Clarion Area pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4-1.

Coming up, Clarion Area will welcome Moniteau at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley, they will head out to face off against Brockway at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley are facing the Rovers at the right time seeing as the Rovers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
