Patton is 0-2 against Chase since October of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Patton Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Chase Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Patton is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Patton fell victim to Brevard's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Blue Devils 48-0. While losing is never fun, Patton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 389th, while Brevard is ranked 108th).
Meanwhile, Chase humbled Polk County with a 70-26 victory. The result was nothing new for Chase, who have now won three matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Zac Frashier had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 306 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 18.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 86 yards and a touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes. Da'Zion Murray was another key contributor, rushing for 105 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Patton's loss was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-1 Chase and 13-2 Draughn (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.3% over those games). As for Chase, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 5-3.
Patton was taken down by Chase 68-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Patton, Jalen Rudisill (who threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
