St. Cloud is a perfect 10-0 against Gateway since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. St. Cloud is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
St. Cloud is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Harmony just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Longhorns by a score of 7-6.
Aiden Pegauro was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Alden Lewis, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Gateway got the win against Evans on Monday by a conclusive 15-2. Considering the Panthers have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Joel Carmona made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Gateway got a massive performance out of Adrian Just, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Just a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ian Colon, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Gateway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Gateway's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for St. Cloud, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Cloud has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Gateway struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Cloud skirted past Gateway 5-3 when the teams last played on Wednesday. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
