Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Jefferson Dragons walked away with it. They managed a 56-50 win over the Storm on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Jefferson, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jefferson had a senior duo take command as Lazzaro Ford scored 23 points and Emanuel Robinson scored 20 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Ford has scored at least a third of Jefferson's points.
When it comes to explaining why Chamberlain lost, one person who can't be blamed is Johaan Thomas. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was DeVonte Spears, who scored 11 points.
Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 10-16. As for Chamberlain, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-19.
Jefferson will face off against Gibbs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Gibbs' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 matches. Chamberlain does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
