Thomaston is 2-8 against Shepaug Valley since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bears will welcome the Spartans at 4:15 p.m. Thomaston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.9 runs per game this season.

Thomaston had taken Nonnewaug down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Bears came up short against the Chiefs, falling 19-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bears have suffered against the Chiefs since April 27, 2022.

Thomaston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackie Phillips, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base was Phillips' first of the season. Another was Addison Patchell, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Shepaug Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Everything went their way against the Mountaineers as they made off with a 19-4 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by nine runs or more this season.

Shepaug Valley's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Thomaston, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
