Edison hasn't had much luck against McCollum recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Golden Bears will venture away from home to challenge the Cowboys at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Edison not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024 (when they won 21-2). Everything went their way against Jefferson as they made off with a 15-2 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Golden Bears as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Serenity Lizcano was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Angelina Araujo was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but McCollum ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past Southwest 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Cowboys, who have now won four contests in a row.
RUIZ MADELYNN spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, SORAYA TORRES was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of MARTINEZ LAUREN, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
McCollum's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Edison, their record is now 3-13-1.
Edison couldn't quite get it done against McCollum when the teams last played back in April of 2016 as they fell 10-6. Can the Golden Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
