Cimarron hasn't had much luck against Logan recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rams will take on the Longhorns in a tournament on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Cimarron sitting on five straight wins and Logan on three.
While Cimarron didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over Dexter on Thursday. Those 11 runs were actually the fewest the Rams have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Orion Ledoux and Urijah Martinez were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Ledoux struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Martinez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ledoux has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ledoux scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Martinez scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taven Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Logan). Everything went their way against Mora on Thursday as they made off with a 34-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Cimarron, Logan also got a great game from a two-way player: Kale Griffiths. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Griffiths was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Aydin Kotara was a standout: he fired off eight RBI, four runs, and two triples while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Mitchell Wall, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances.
Logan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Cimarron pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Logan, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cimarron hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .496. However, it's not like Logan struggles in that department as they've averaged .469. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cimarron took their victory against Logan in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-8 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
