Volleyball Recap: West Orange Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for West Orange, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Irvington Blue Knights 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mountaineers have posted since May 2, 2024.

West Orange had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-15, 25-20.

Nick Dent paced West Orange's offense, picking up 14 kills. Dent got some help from Carnegie Pierre and his 27 assists. Finally, Jeremiah Cadet and Marshall Greer kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked three attacks.

West Orange's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Irvington, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

West Orange will head out to challenge Glen Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Irvington, they will be playing at home against Immaculate Conception at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
