The Roosevelt Roughriders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 73-57 bruising from Frederick. While losing is never fun, Roosevelt can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 128th).
Despite the loss, Roosevelt still got an impressive performance from Seppe Salvatore, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 47.4% of Roosevelt's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nolan Peterson, who scored eight points along with 17 rebounds and two steals.
Frederick was led to victory by Zach Burton and JJ Strojinc. Burton scored 16 points along with six steals, while Strojinc scored 29 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burton has scored all season. Ollie Justice was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Roosevelt's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Frederick, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.
Roosevelt will head out on the road to challenge the Mountain Lions at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Mountain View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday. As for Frederick, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ravens at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
